Lee Armstrong's life story begins in Winterset, Iowa, a city that holds a special connection to Hollywood legend John Wayne, who was also born there. Armstrong's upbringing was marked by frequent relocations due to his family's military background, which resulted in him attending various schools, including North Chicago High School. During his sophomore year at North Chicago High School, Armstrong won the prestigious award of Best Character Actor for his outstanding performance as Bottom in the school production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream".
Armstrong's academic pursuits led him to Nile C. Kinnick High School in Japan, where he completed his secondary education. He then went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in theatre from Illinois State University's renowned program, followed by a Master's degree in theatre from the University of Iowa.
After completing his education, Armstrong relocated to Burbank, California, and spent the 1980s honing his craft in various Equity-waiver, television, and film projects. It was during this period that he became a member of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) in 1983.
In Los Angeles, Armstrong's acting journey was significantly influenced by his studies with renowned acting coach Jeremiah Comey. In 1984, he tied the knot with Roselyn Van Benschoten, an occupational therapist, and the couple remained together until her passing in 2007.
Armstrong's life took a new turn in 1991 when he relocated to North Carolina. He is the proud father of a daughter, Ozanne, who has been his source of inspiration and joy throughout the years.
