Lena Katina, a Russian singer and songwriter, is best known for her work with the duo t.A.T.u. Her career began at the age of eight when she joined the Russian children's act Avenue, followed by Neposedi.
In 1999, Ivan Shapovalov chose Lena Katina and Yuliya Volkova for his project t.A.T.u., which became Russia's most successful pop music act. The duo produced hits like "All the Things She Said", "Not Gonna Get Us", and "All About Us". Their first single "All The Things She Said" reached number one in 19 countries.
In 2009, Katina started a solo career, which led to t.A.T.u. going into hiatus. In 2011, Katina and Volkova officially split to pursue solo careers. Katina released her first mainstream single "Never Forget", which reached number one on the MTV Russia Top 10, US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play, and Greece.
In 2014, she released her debut album, This Is Who I Am. Born in Moscow on October 4, 1984, Katina began attending various sport and music clubs at the age of four to foster her artistic talents.
Katina started her music career at the age of seven, entering music school for piano classes. At ten, she joined the child-group "Avenue" as a soloist, and at 13, she became a member of the vocal and instrumental group "Neposedi".
Since her early childhood, Katina's hobbies have included artistic gymnastics, ballroom dancing, figure skating, swimming, and horse-riding. She is also a skilled pianist and enjoys reading, especially romance novels.
Katina made her film debut in the 2011 film You and I alongside Julia Volkova and Mischa Barton. She voiced the fairy Zarina in the Russian dub of the Disney film The Pirate Fairy, released in 2014.
In 2014, the video for "Lyubov' v Kazhdom Mgnoveniy" was launched as a short film named Together Apart, part of the Cornetto marketing project Cornetto Cupidity.
