Biography

Lewis is a renowned television director, currently helming the ambitious project "The Long Shadow" for New Pictures and ITV, following the completion of "Sherwood" for House Productions and BBC One.

Notably, he previously directed Jimmy McGovern's critically acclaimed drama "Time" for BBC Studios, starring Sean Bean and Stephen Graham, which earned several nominations at the TV BAFTAs, including Best Director, and won awards for Best Mini-Series and Best Leading Actor.

In 2020, Lewis directed and executive produced the drama "Des" for New Pictures and ITV, which he co-created with writer Luke Neal. The series won the International Emmy Award for Best Performance By An Actor in 2021 and received a nomination for Best TV Movie/Mini-Series. The first episode garnered impressive consolidated viewing figures of 11.4 million, making it ITV's biggest new series since the launch of "Cleaning Up" in January 2019.

Upon graduating from the National Film and Television School in March 2013, Lewis began his television directing career by helming two episodes of the final series of the BAFTA-winning Channel 4 show "Misfits." He then went on to direct the first four episodes of Russell T Davies's new E4 show "Banana" and was named a Broadcast Magazine Hotshot in 2014 for his work on both projects.

Lewis's extensive television credits also include directing two episodes of the critically acclaimed series "Broadchurch" and "Humans," which became Channel 4's most successful original drama in over 20 years when it aired in 2015. He was subsequently asked back to direct the lead block of the second series for Kudos and AMC.

In addition to his television work, Lewis has also directed several short films, including "Charlie Says" and "Echo," which screened at numerous international film festivals and earned various awards, including a National Film Award for Best Short.

Lewis has a range of projects in development, including the adaptation of Al Ewing's book "The Fictional Man" with The Forge, as well as feature film projects "Bully," "Him," and "Playing Dead." He is also represented in the US by Matt Greenberg and Jon Cassir at CAA.
