Lien Mya Nguyen, a remarkable individual with a rich cultural heritage, was born in Houston, Texas, to a father of Vietnamese-French descent and a mother of Vietnamese-Chinese origin. Her father hails from Long An, Binh Chanh, Vietnam, while her mother comes from Soc Trang, Vietnam.
Lien Mya's childhood was marked by the presence of her three siblings, with her second sister tragically passing away in 1995. Her family relocated to Vietnam in 1992, and she eventually returned to the United States in 2000. Throughout her life, she has moved around the country, residing in various states including Texas, Florida, California, Kentucky, and Oregon, before finally settling back in Texas.
A precocious child, Lien Mya's first-grade teacher asked her classmates what they wanted to be when they grew up. While her peers replied with traditional answers like "nurse" or "police officer," Lien Mya boldly declared she wanted to be an actress. Her teacher was taken aback, but this early declaration sparked a lifelong passion within her.
Lien Mya's modeling career began at the tender age of 15, and she quickly secured a one-year contract as a spokes-model for the Japanese company Kao for Sifone. This breakthrough led to a flurry of commercials and a gradual immersion into the entertainment industry. Her numerous accolades include winning second place at the Miss Vietnam Han Noi Enchantuer 2000, Miss Congeniality at the Miss Vietnam Ha Noi 2000, Miss Perfect Fit at the Miss Aerobics 2000, a silver medal at the Taekwondo Tournament in Ho Chi Minh City, and titles at the Miss Beaumont Texas International 2005 and Miss Texas International 2005, where she was the second runner-up.
