Biography

Linda Foster was a stunning blonde television actress of the 1960s and 1970s, often cast in wholesome roles that showcased her charm and beauty. Born into a family of a marine engineer and a dance teacher, Linda graduated from Van Nuys High School and initially pursued a career in secretarial work before being discovered by a talent scout while shopping at a Joseph Hughes supermarket in Los Angeles.

Her acting career began in 1964, with film roles that were largely insignificant, except for her memorable turn as a scantily-clad seductress in the Matt Helm spoof The Ambushers in 1967. On television, Linda was frequently cast as coeds, ingénues, or "groovy chicks," and was signed to a contract with Universal Studios.

However, Linda soon grew dissatisfied with the roles being offered to her and asked to be released from her contract. She then turned freelance and found more success on television, particularly as a co-star on the short-lived sitcom Hank in 1965. Linda played the role of a university registrar's daughter and the romantic interest of the titular character.

After Hank ended its run, Linda appeared in a number of other television shows, including F Troop and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. She also made repeat appearances on Bonanza and My Three Sons before eventually retiring from acting in 1984.

In her personal life, Linda was married twice. Her first husband was Vince Edwards, a television actor best known for his role as Dr. Ben Casey, whom she married in 1967 and divorced in 1974. Her second husband was the actor Edward Winter, who is best remembered for his role as the paranoid and inept Colonel Flagg on the hit TV series M*A*S*H.
