Lorna Nickson Brown was born in Stoke, England, where she spent her early years before embarking on a life-altering journey with her parents to Kathmandu, Nepal. This formative experience would later influence her artistic pursuits. Upon returning to her birthplace, Birmingham, UK, Lorna was raised by her mother, whose unwavering support likely played a significant role in her future success.
As Lorna's academic and artistic inclinations began to take shape, she was offered a place at the University of Birmingham to study English and American Literature. However, she opted for a professional actor training, instead auditioning for Drama Centre London, where she secured one of five coveted female spots on the three-year BA Acting course. Her exceptional talent and dedication were soon recognized, as she won a prestigious Laurence Olivier Bursary Award for her outstanding performances in 'The Maid's Tragedy' and 'Henry VI: Part III'.
Lorna's impressive body of work extends beyond the stage, as she has made a significant impact in the film industry. Her short film, Dog Run (2023),garnered an astonishing 16 awards and nominations, including the Breaking Boundaries Grand Prize Award at the 41st Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2023. Additionally, she directed the award-winning BFI Network short, Ned & Me (2020),which received widespread critical acclaim. The film's impressive festival run included a selection in the 2021 International Competition at Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival.
