Writer, producer, and director Lou Simon's journey into filmmaking was a serendipitous one, as she discovered her passion for storytelling and subsequently became a triple threat in the indie film community through a harmonious blend of dedication and passion.
Born in Havana, Cuba, at the tender age of nine, Lou Simon and her family made the arduous decision to migrate to Miami, Florida, in a bid to escape the communist regime that had taken hold of their homeland. This tumultuous period in her life served as a catalyst for Lou's discovery of her own escape and sanctuary: Writing.
As a tool to facilitate her learning of the English language, Lou was assigned to write a short story, which inadvertently sparked her passion for writing. She went on to graduate from the University of Florida with a degree in English and Creative Writing, and subsequently pursued freelance writing opportunities.
However, Lou's creative journey took an unexpected turn when she decided to further her education at the prestigious NYU School of Law. Nevertheless, she eventually found her way back to her roots in 2011, when she collaborated with a friend on a screenplay. It was during this period that she discovered her true calling: Screenwriting.
Lou Simon's remarkable talent for storytelling did not go unnoticed, as she not only wrote, but also produced and directed her feature film, "HazMat", securing distribution for it in a record-breaking nine months. The film's success was met with critical acclaim, as it won the Best Horror Film award at both the Massachusetts Independent Film Festival and the Berlin Independent Film Festival.
Lou's latest endeavour, the supernatural thriller "Agoraphobia", which she wrote, produced, and directed, boasts an impressive cast featuring legendary actor Tony Todd and rising star Cassandra Scerbo. The film is slated for release early 2015, marking a significant milestone in Lou Simon's illustrious career as a writer, producer, and director.
