Loveday Smith is a multifaceted artist who has made a name for herself in the world of film, television, live performance, and audio, showcasing her impressive range and versatility.
Originally hailing from the Pennines in the north of England, Smith has been based in the Netherlands since 2013, where she has continued to thrive and expand her artistic practice.
Prior to her relocation, Smith worked extensively in mainstream theatre and television in the UK, but a midlife crisis led her to embark on a new journey, first in France and then in the Netherlands, where she has had the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of artists.
Some of her notable collaborations include working with Paul Maheke on 'a fire circle for a public hearing' at the Vleeshal Gallery, Michael Portnoy on 'Relational Stalinism' at the Witte de Wit Centre for Contemporary Art Rotterdam, and Priscila Fernandes on 'In Darkness All Cats Are Grey'.
Smith has also had the pleasure of working with Helen Anna Flanagan on several projects, including 'Mash Up #2 MHKA', 'Gestures of Anatomy', and 'Sunday', as well as the latest collaboration, 'Deeply, Madly', which premiered at IFFR 2023 in the RTM programme.
In addition to her work in live performance, Smith has also made a name for herself in film, taking on the title role in "Britannia" by Amartey Golding and starring as Mel in "Goldfish For Breakfast" by Uriël Matahelumual, which premiered at IFFR 2024.
Smith's voice can also be heard in the animation "I'm Perfectly Fine", in which she plays the role of Maya's Little Dictator, which premiered at the Nederlands Film Festival in 2023.
