New Zealand-Tongan actor Luciane Buchanan embarked on her acting journey as a young teenager in Aotearoa, landing notable roles on local series such as 'The Blue Rose' and 'Filthy Rich'.
In 2018, she was cast as the lead protagonist Tripitaka in the Netflix series 'The New Legends of Monkey', a role that showcased her impressive acting abilities.
Her subsequent roles include Netflix's 'Sweet Tooth' and Apple TV+'s 'Mr Corman', demonstrating her versatility as an actress.
2022 proved to be a breakout year for Luciane, as she was cast in the lead role of Rose in Netflix's political conspiracy thriller 'The Night Agent', created by Shawn Ryan and based on Matthew Quirk's 2019 New York Times bestseller.
This role catapulted her to international stardom, earning her a spot as one of IMDb's Top Stars of 2023.
In addition to her acting career, Luciane is also a talented writer, having been a recipient of the Script to Screen 'Fresh Shorts' program for her first short screenplay 'Lea Tupu'anga/ Mother Tongue', funded by the New Zealand Film Commission.
Her screenplay is set to world premiere at the Sundance 2024 International Fiction Short Film competition.
Luciane has also worked as an associate producer on the hit local show 'Panthers', based on the true story of the Polynesian Panther movement in New Zealand during the 1970s.
