Luděk Sobota was born on May 27, 1943, in Prague, Czech Republic. He pursued his passion for the performing arts by studying at the Faculty of Theatre. This led him to establish his own theatre, Divadlo Ludka Soboty, located near the I. P. Pavlova metro station in Prague.
Sobota's career took an interesting turn when he joined a comedy trio with Petr Nárožný and Miloslav Šimek. He also gained recognition for his voice-acting work in the Polda video game series.
After graduating from the transport industry school and the Prague DAMU, Sobota discovered his true calling as a comedian and actor. His unique talent for playing character roles and improvisation led him to create his own domain in comedy.
Sobota's breakthrough in the public eye came when he joined the Ypsilon ensemble under the direction of Jan Schmidt in 1968. He then became a main actor in the film Jáchyme, throw him into the machine!.
Between 1973 and 1990, Sobota worked at the Semafor theater in Prague, where he collaborated with Miloslav Šimek and Petr Nárožný. Many of their sketches were released on Panton's record labels.
In the late 2000s, Sobota opened his own Prague Dive Theater in Pavlov's Square, where he worked as an actor, director, and author alongside his wife, Adrian. Unfortunately, the theatre had to close due to financial difficulties.
Since September 2010, Sobota has been starring in the TV comedy series The District Revolution as Václav Orel, the chairman of TJ Slavoj Houslice club.
In his personal life, Sobota has been married twice. His first marriage to Jana Sobotova resulted in a son, Robert, born in 1964. His second marriage to Adrian Sobotova produced a son, Ladislav, born in 1988.
