Person Biography:

Ludmilla Tchérina was born in Paris, France, as Monique Tchemerzine, the daughter of a Georgian prince and a Frenchwoman. She began dancing at the age of three and made her professional debut at 11. She trained at the Paris Opera school and joined Serge Lifar's Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, where she earned the distinction of being the youngest prima ballerina in history.

Ludmilla built an international reputation throughout the 1940s and 1950s, dancing in various cities around the world. She formed her own experimental dance company in 1959 and danced at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow the following year.

She began her film career in the late 1940s, starring in films such as "Un revenant" (1946),"The Red Shoes" (1948),and "The Tales of Hoffmann" (1951). She married actor and dancer Edmond Audran in 1951, but he tragically died in a road accident the following year. She married again in 1953 to Raymond Roi, a wealthy financier and industrialist.

Ludmilla's Hollywood career was short-lived, starring in only two films, "Sign of the Pagan" (1954) and "Oh... Rosalinda!!" (1955). She continued to appear in films and TV movies throughout the 1960s and 1970s, including "Honeymoon" (1959),"Les amants de Teruel" (1962),and "Salomé" (1969).

After a decade of near absence, Ludmilla returned to the stage and screen, starring in classical French TV movies and writing novels. She was decorated with the Officier, Légion d'honneur in 1980 and passed away in Paris at the age of 79 in 2004.
