Biography

Magdalena Daria Ikonowicz, a multifaceted Polish individual with a rich background in television, hospitality, and art, has led a life of remarkable diversity and complexity. Born in Komorów, Poland, she is the daughter of Miroslaw Ikonowicz, a Polish-Italian journalist whose own life was a testament to the power of storytelling and the ability to navigate multiple cultures.

Gessler's formative years were characterized by a rich tapestry of international influences, as she spent her childhood in Sofia, Bulgaria, and later on the picturesque island of Cuba, where she was exposed to a diverse array of cultural experiences that would later shape her artistic vision.

As she navigated her early years, Gessler's innate passion for the arts began to take center stage, prompting her to pursue formal training in the esteemed Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, where she honed her skills in painting under the guidance of experienced instructors.

It was during this period that Gessler's artistic talents began to flourish, as she delved deeper into the world of visual art, absorbing the techniques and philosophies of her mentors and refining her unique style.

In the decade of the 1980s, Gessler embarked upon a significant life event, namely, her marriage to Volkhart Müller, a correspondent of considerable reputation, serving as the Madrid representative for the renowned German publication, "Der Spiegel".

However, fate had other plans, as in the year 1986, Müller's life was tragically cut short, leaving Gessler to face the devastating consequences of his untimely passing.

In the aftermath of this profound loss, Gessler found solace in returning to her native Poland, where she would eventually meet and marry Piotr Gessler, a restaurateur of great passion and dedication.

Subsequently, Gessler's writing talents flourished, as she went on to publish a plethora of food-related books and articles, including contributions to the Polish edition of the prestigious publication, "Newsweek".

Magdalena Gessler's television career gained significant momentum in the year 2010, marking the beginning of her illustrious journey in the world of culinary television. It was during this pivotal year that she started working on the Polish adaptation of the highly acclaimed and popular cooking show "Kitchen Nightmares". Her exceptional performance and undeniable charm on the show did not go unnoticed, and as a direct result, she was subsequently appointed as a judge on the Polish edition of the globally renowned cooking competition "MasterChef" in the year 2012.

Gessler's personal life has been marked by significant relationships, having entered into matrimony twice, first with Volkhart Müller, with whom she formed a union that would ultimately come to an end, and subsequently, with Piotr Gessler, a partnership that would also experience a separation. Presently, she is involved in a romantic relationship with Waldemar Kozerawski, a medical professional, and together, they have welcomed two children into their family, Tadeusz Müller and Lara Gessler.
