As she embarked on her academic journey, Anurita's thirst for knowledge and passion for the performing arts led her to pursue a Master's degree in theater from the prestigious Panjab University, situated in the heart of Chandigarh, in the year 1998.
Gill's cinematic journey commenced with a pivotal appearance in the Punjabi-based Bollywood film, Hawayein, a project that marked the beginning of her foray into the world of cinema. Subsequent to her stint in this film, she went on to appear in a handful of Punjabi films, concurrently pursuing her passion for theater. However, it was her breakthrough role that truly catapulted her to fame, courtesy of a serendipitous encounter with Anurag at a high-profile party, where he was immediately struck by her potential and promptly cast her as the lead character, Paro, in the critically acclaimed movie Dev D.
Gill's subsequent projects encompassed a diverse range of filmic endeavors, including the notable collaboration with renowned director Ram Gopal Verma on the cinematic adaptation of the disturbing real-life murder case of Niraj Grover, which transpired in 2008. Furthermore, she shared the silver screen with accomplished actors Jimmy Shergill and Randeep Hooda in the 2011 release of Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster, a film that garnered widespread attention and acclaim.
