Margo was a talented and charismatic actress who had a remarkable career in the entertainment industry. She began her journey as a dancer and went on to work steadily in both stage and television productions until her retirement. Her first major break came when she played the role of Noelle Gordon's understudy in the London production of Brigadoon in the late 1940s.
Margo's impressive repertoire of musicals included Wedding in Paris, The Water Gypsies, Maggie May, and Showboat. She was also a member of the National Theatre from 1965 to 1969, touring with the company led by the renowned Sir Lawrence Olivier to Canada.
Throughout her career, Margo was known for her versatility and ability to adapt to various roles. She often played the part of a fairy and worked closely with the talented Ricki Fulton. One of her most notable performances was as Caribosse, the wicked witch, in the production of Sleeping Beauty at Glasgow.
Margo's television credits include appearances in Z Cars, Take Three Girls, Crossroads, and Scotch and Rye. She also had a memorable role as the murder victim in the long-running play "The Mousetrap." Interestingly, Margo once shared with me that she believed her longevity in the industry was due to her ability to play character roles.
After her retirement, Margo moved to Devon and later married John, a love from her youth. Despite her age, Margo remained physically active and was still able to perform impressive feats, such as the splits and cartwheels, on her 70th birthday.
Unfortunately, Margo's life was cut short due to cancer. In an amusing anecdote, she once told me that she had no idea one of her movies was so raunchy until it was released, as she had missed that part!
