Maria Klenskaja, a renowned Estonian actress, was born on January 29, 1951, in Tartu to Russian parents.
She initially pursued a career in the arts, working as a make-up artist and in the prop department at the Estonian State Youth Theatre in Tallinn from 1968 to 1970.
Klenskaja's formal education in the performing arts began in 1974, when she graduated from the Tallinn State Conservatory's Performing Arts Department.
Since her graduation, she had been a contracted actress at the Estonian Drama Theatre, a position she held for over four decades.
In addition to her work in theatre, Klenskaja also had a successful film career and appeared in television and radio theatre productions.
Maria Klenskaja's personal life was marked by a long-term relationship with actor Aarne Üksküla, which lasted for over thirty years until his passing in 2017.
Sadly, Klenskaja herself passed away on January 6, 2022, at the age of 70, following a prolonged illness.
