Person Biography:
Markuann Smith was born in Harlem, New York, and spent most of his childhood in Queens. He attended Far Rockaway High School and later Garden State Academy. Growing up, Markuann faced a tough environment, with the streets being rough and his household not offering much escape. His mother worked three jobs to maintain their lifestyle, which led Markuann to raise himself and rebel against his stepfather. At a young age, his mother kicked him out of the house, forcing him to mature quickly.
Markuann's life took a turn for the better when his brother, Father M.C., got a record deal with Uptown MCA records. Markuann began touring with his brother, exposing him to the likes of Tupac, Toni Tony Tone, Digital Underground, and Boyz II Men. He started off as a roadie, where he learned from Sean "Diddy" Combs how to be a hype man and get the crowd excited. This experience triggered the entertainment bug in Markuann.
After returning home from tour, Markuann attended Morgan State University, where he minored in Theater. He had always had a passion for acting, which was nurtured by his love for films. Markuann worked hard and his dedication paid off, landing roles on the "Chapelle Show", in movies such as "Juice", "Poetic Justice", and "Code Blue", and in the award-winning short film "A Good Day to Die". He has also hosted the All Hip Hop TV segment on the AllHipHop.com website and was recently featured in the upcoming VH-1 series "Let's Talk About Pep" starring rapper Pepa.
Markuann's ultimate goal is to move people, whether it's to laugh or cry, and to create an emotional connection with his audience.
