Biography

Marlen Hecht is a pioneering figure in the film industry, recognized as one of the first female producers to have three films premiere at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival. Beyond her work as a producer, she is also a talented director and a post-production industry trailblazer.

As the Founder and CEO of Teatown Video, Inc. (also known as Teatown Communications Group),Hecht created one of the first interformat editing facilities, establishing a multi-million dollar post-production, VFX, and graphics firm with a client roster that includes some of the biggest names in the industry, such as NBC, ABC, CBS, HBO, Showtime, Sony Pictures, Warner Brothers, AMC, Comedy Central, Disney Channel, and many others.

Hecht's work has been recognized with numerous awards, including Academy Awards and Emmy Awards, and has been featured in publications such as New York Magazine's "How Women Can Thrive" and "New York Women in Film & TV's "The Feminization of Power: Women as Entrepreneurs".

As a producer, Hecht has collaborated with her producing partner Dean Silvers on a range of projects, including the films Manny & Lo (1996),starring Scarlett Johansson, and Wigstock: The Movie (1995),one of the highest-grossing LGBTQ documentaries of all time. Her other producing credits include the films Committed (2000),featuring Heather Graham, Casey Affleck, and Mark Ruffalo, as well as numerous TV shows for HBO, IFC, Netflix, Discovery, TruTV, and other networks.

Hecht's latest comedy series, Becoming Jiff (2018),was released by Samuel Goldwyn Films on Amazon Prime Video, receiving widespread critical acclaim from outlets such as BuzzFeed, The Film Stage, and Stage 32.

Throughout her career, Hecht has been recognized with numerous awards and nominations, including an Independent Spirit Award nomination and multiple Telly Awards. She has also lectured at institutions such as NYU and the Sundance Institute, solidifying her reputation as a respected figure in the film industry.
