Biography

Matt Furie is a profoundly gifted American comics artist and illustrator, whose remarkable creative endeavors have resulted in the creation of the cherished and iconic character Pepe the Frog. This remarkable anthropomorphic being first emerged in Furie's Boy's Club series, which was initially introduced to the world in the year 2005.

In the year 2015, the image of Pepe the Frog, a cartoon character created by artist Matt Furie, underwent a drastic transformation as it was co-opted by the alt-right movement, a political ideology characterized by its far-right leanings and often associated with white nationalism and anti-immigrant sentiment.

As a result of this hijacking, the Anti-Defamation League, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, designated Pepe the Frog as a hate symbol in the following year, 2016.
