Mercedes López Renard, a talented individual, was born in Miami, Florida, to Roberto López, a renowned film, stage, and radio actor who fled Cuba in the late 1950s with his wife and three older siblings. At the tender age of 16, Mercedes was scouted by Elite, one of the world's top modeling agencies, and was sent to Europe to pursue a career in modeling.
As she quickly assimilated into the European lifestyle, Mercedes became fluent in French and Italian, and was living in Milan when she caught the attention of Academy Award-winning director Giuseppe Tornatore, known for his work on "Cinema Paradiso". Renard was flown to Rome for a screen test, and her love for acting flourished, leading her to find her calling.
Mercedes' leap of faith paid off immediately, as she landed her first feature role alongside Will Smith and Eva Mendes in the romantic comedy "Hitch", as well as numerous national commercials. Her impressive body of work includes the Amazon feature "Tom Clancy; War Within the Cartel", a starring role in the Hallmark pilot "Meddling Mom" alongside Sonia Braga and Tony Plana, and other projects such as "Love", "Law and Order", "The Night Shift", and "NCIS".
Renard recently created the role of Simone Forche for the play "Shout", which premiered at the Fremont Center Theater. Outside of her acting career, Mercedes is a strong supporter of Women for Women International, a charity that helps women survivors of war rebuild their lives.
