Mia Hansen-Løve's entry into the world of cinema occurred when she was just seventeen years old, as Olivier Assayas provided her with her first acting role in the 1998 film "Late August, Early September". Two years later, Assayas once again entrusted her with the part of "Aline" in his 2000 film "Les Destinées".
This artistic collaboration was mirrored in their personal lives, as Mia and Olivier formed a romantic partnership. In 2001, Mia began studying at the municipal Conservatory of Dramatic Arts in Paris' 10th district, but she only stayed for two years before deciding to contribute to the renowned film magazine "Les Cahiers du Cinéma", where Olivier also wrote.
That same year, Mia attempted her hand at directing and, as soon as filming began, discovered that this was indeed what she wanted to do. The outcome was her debut film "Après mûre réflexion", released in 2004.
By the time she was just twenty-eight years old, Mia had already directed not one, not two, but three films, including "All Is Forgiven" in 2007 and "Father of My Children" in 2009, both of which received critical acclaim and showcased a consistent thematic and stylistic unity.
