Biography

Michael Dunaway is a multi-talented individual who wears many hats. As the Founding Partner of Gasoline Films and Poitier & Dunaway Motion Pictures, he is deeply involved in the film industry. Additionally, he serves as Editor at Large of Paste Magazine and Creative Director of the Rome International Film Festival, showcasing his versatility and breadth of expertise.

Dunaway's extensive filmography includes producing and directing several notable projects. One of his most notable credits is the critically acclaimed documentary "21 Years: Richard Linklater", which premiered at #8 on iTunes and received a New York Times Critics Pick. He was also a producer on the film "You're Killing Me", starring Anne Heche, and "Outlaw Posse", directed by Mario Van Peebles.

Furthermore, Dunaway directed and wrote the screenplay for the romantic comedy "Six LA Love Stories", featuring an all-star cast including Peter Bogdanovich, Carrie Preston, and Stephen Tobolowsky. He also produced and directed "The Man Who Ate New Orleans", a culinary documentary that boasts an impressive lineup of talent, including Morgan Spurlock, Natalia Livingston, and James Beard winners John Currence and John Besh.

Prior to his work on these feature-length projects, Dunaway honed his skills by producing and directing several shorter films. One of his most notable short films, "Bread", won Best US Narrative short at the 2011 Rome International Film Festival, where it premiered. He also served as segment director on Frank Kelly's groundbreaking film "140", which took home the Bronze Palm at the Mexico International Film Festival.

Dunaway's impressive resume also includes an Associate Producer credit on the 2011 Independent Spirit Award nominee "An African Election". His current projects include a scripted historical civil rights epic in collaboration with the King and Poitier families. When he's not busy with his numerous film-related endeavors, Dunaway calls Atlanta his home.
