Adolfo E. Urrutia, a native of Puerto Rico, boasting a rich heritage stemming from his Basque ancestry, entered this world on October 3, 1944, in the picturesque city of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. He was blessed with the gift of life, born to parents Carlos E. Urrutia, a dedicated and courageous U.S. Army Officer, and Lavinia M Lopez, a pillar of strength and love. Adolfo's family was complete with two brothers, with an older sibling named Carlos J. Urrutia, who played a significant role in shaping Adolfo's early years.
Adolfo's academic odyssey commenced at the renowned Karlsruhe American High School situated in the picturesque city of Karlsruhe, Germany, where he successfully completed his secondary education and earned his diploma in the year 1959.
Subsequently, Adolfo embarked on a new educational adventure by relocating to the United States, where he matriculated at the esteemed Carroll High School, located in the charming town of Ozark, Alabama. Following a rigorous and fulfilling academic tenure, Adolfo proudly received his diploma from Carroll High School in the year 1963.
After completing his high school education, Adolfo made the courageous decision to enlist in the United States Army in June 1963, dedicating himself to a period of service that would last until June 1966.
During his time in the military, he had the privilege of serving with three esteemed divisions: the 101st Airborne Division, the 11th Air Assault Division (Test),and the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile).
As he deployed to Vietnam in August 1965, Adolfo would go on to see action in the war-torn country until June 1966, earning a multitude of prestigious badges and commendations for his bravery and service.
Among his notable achievements, he received the Parachutist Badge, a testament to his exceptional parachuting skills, as well as the Combat Infantry Badge, awarded for his distinguished actions in the pivotal battle of Plei Me.
Furthermore, Adolfo was honored with the South Vietnamese Army Parachutist Badge, a symbol of his adaptability and dedication to his duties in a foreign land.
After completing his military service, Adolfo embarked on a new chapter in his life, opting to trade in his uniform for a suit and tie as he entered the corporate world, taking on roles as a sales representative for esteemed organizations such as IBM, 3M Company, and Xerox Corp.
However, as time passed, Adolfo's true calling began to beckon, and he decided to pursue his long-held passion for the performing arts, utilizing the benefits afforded to him through the G.I. Bill to enroll in the esteemed Theater of Arts in Los Angeles, where he would go on to hone his craft and lay the groundwork for a successful career in acting.
Adolfo's extensive experience in the world of acting has led him to take on numerous roles in various Actors Equity Waiver Stage productions, showcasing his impressive range and versatility as a performer.
One of his most notable achievements was landing the lead role in the original play "Say Uncle Sam", a remarkable work penned by the esteemed Lester Cole, a co-founder of the influential Screen Writers and Authors Guild and a member of the infamous Hollywood Ten.
This groundbreaking play, which received widespread critical acclaim, was brought to life by the vision and dedication of the talented producers Jane Fonda and Donald Sutherland, who played a pivotal role in bringing this remarkable story to the stage.
