Mike Bruce is a renowned American film director, writer, and producer, born and raised in Northern California. Prior to pursuing a career in film, he played bass for the psychedelic rock band Low Flying Owls. In 2005, he relocated to Los Angeles to further his interest in the film industry, marking the beginning of his journey as a filmmaker.
Bruce's debut feature film, "The Legend of God's Gun", was met with critical acclaim, with Popmatters describing it as a cinematic experience that "rips through your brain and severs your synapses, shredding what you know about film and replacing it with a brand new celluloid language". His subsequent film, "Treasure of the Black Jaguar", received widespread critical acclaim, winning the Distribution Award at the Raindance Film Festival and the Best Cinematography Award at the First Glance Film Festival Hollywood. The Hollywood Reporter praised the film, describing it as a "Well-made adventure set in Sergio Leone-type terrain and blasted with Robert Rodriguez-ish firepower...a delirious descent into a heart-of-darkness, where survival instincts and base greed trump basic goodness and civilized values".
The Raindance Film Festival listed Bruce as one of the top ten American filmmakers to watch for in 2011, solidifying his reputation as a talented and innovative director. In addition to his work in film, Bruce has also ventured into music, creating a video for Noel Gallagher's 'AKA...What a Life!', which made the Top 20 Most Awesome Videos of 2011 on Yahoo. This project was part of "the most successful music video trilogy of all time" according to Entertainment Weekly.
Most recently, Bruce's film "Neolovismo" premiered at the prestigious Pesaro International Film Festival in Northern Italy, and was later nominated for best film and screenplay at the Milan International Film Festival. Additionally, it won the Innovative Storytelling Award at the 25th Kansas City Film Festival International.
