Miranda Frigon is a multifaceted Canadian actress, singer-songwriter, and dancer, born in Edmonton, Alberta. Her early life revolved around competitive gymnastics, ballet, and classical piano, which led her to perform at a young age.
She traveled and competed across Canada with her gymnastics team, training professionally as a dancer. Miranda danced in a ballet company for several years before joining a more diverse company that incorporated various dance styles. She then attended the University of Alberta, where she studied Theater and Psychology, while also competing on the varsity gymnastics team.
Miranda received a scholarship to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, where she trained in musical theater. Her first recurring television role was on the Disney series "Honey, I Shrunk The Kids," which led her to return to Canada to build her film, television, and music career.
After settling in Vancouver, British Columbia, she began booking numerous guest stars on hit network U.S. shows, including "The 4400," "Higher Ground," "The Chris Isaak Show," "John Doe," "True Calling," and "The Dead Zone." In her free time, she wrote music and performed live with her band in local venues.
Miranda's music career took off when she landed a 13-episode run on UPN's "Jake 2.0" and had two of her original songs featured in the series. She has since placed her songs in numerous films and television shows, including "Bones," "Ugly Betty," "Dexter," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "V," "Motive," "Supernatural," and "The Magicians."
Notable television roles include guest appearances on "Bones," "Ugly Betty," "Dexter," "The New Adventures of Old Christine," "V," "Motive," "Supernatural," and "The Magicians." She was nominated for a Canadian Leo Award in 2013 for her leading role on Syfy's "Primeval: New World" and was recurring for five seasons on the hit drama "Heartland."
Miranda is currently recognized for her leading role on Hallmark's "Aurora Teagarden Mysteries" alongside Candace Cameron and Marilu Henner, which films in Vancouver. She was nominated for a Canadian Leo Award again in 2015 for her role in this series.
Miranda's original song "Hiding Place" was featured in episode 5 of Syfy's "Primeval New World," which led to a worldwide fan base for her music. Since then, her original songs have been placed in various television series, indie and feature films by prominent networks and studios.
Miranda has released her new Kickstarter fan-funded album "First" in 2017, available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and other online stores. In addition to her creative talents, she is a skilled Mixed Martial Artist, trained in Boxing and Thai Kickboxing for over 10 years.
