Molly McGlynn is a multifaceted creative force, born in Montreal and raised in the United States, now calling Los Angeles home, yet retaining a strong affinity for Toronto.
As a writer and director, McGlynn's cinematic endeavors have garnered significant recognition. Her inaugural feature film, Mary Goes Round, starring Aya Cash and Sara Waisglass, premiered at the esteemed Toronto International Film Festival in September 2017, subsequently screening at numerous film festivals worldwide, and winning a plethora of accolades, including the Panavision Independent Cinema Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Best Feature Film at the Vail Film Festival, and Best Narrative Feature at the Annapolis Film Festival.
Mary Goes Round received further recognition, earning nominations from the Directors' Guild of Canada for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Feature Film and Best Editing in a Feature Film, as well as the Jay Scott Emerging Artist Award from the Toronto Film Critics Association.
McGlynn's sophomore effort, Fitting In (formerly known as Bloody Hell),starring Maddie Ziegler and Emily Hampshire, made its World Premiere at the SXSW festival in the Narrative Spotlight section in March 2023, followed by its International Premiere at the prestigious Deauville American Film Festival and Canadian premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it was honored with the Sloan Science on Film spotlight.
Fitting In went on to win the Best Canadian Feature Film award at the Vancouver International Film Festival and received a nomination for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film from the Directors Guild of Canada.
The film was subsequently released theatrically in the US (Blue Fox Entertainment) and Canada (Elevation Pictures) in February 2024, boasting a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In addition to her feature work, McGlynn has directed over thirty episodes of television and served as a producing director on Season 2 of Bless This Mess.
