Monique Paulwell, a talented actress and singer, was born in Kingston, Jamaica, but spent her formative years in the Washington Metropolitan area, where she was surrounded by a musically inclined family of seven.
This nurturing environment played a significant role in shaping Monique's early interests, as she made her theatrical debut in a Christmas production with the Washington Revels, initially intended as a platform for her to showcase her singing talents.
However, this performance marked a turning point, as Monique discovered her passion for acting and the stage, prompting her to pursue a formal education in the field. She enrolled at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and subsequently, she divided her residence between New York City and Maryland, driven by her ambition to establish a successful career as a multifaceted performer.
Following her Revels debut, Monique went on to participate in various productions, including shows at MetroStage (Two Queens, One Castle),Studio Theater (Caroline, or Change),and The Kennedy Center (Blues Journey),among others.
In addition to her stage work, Monique has also had a successful career in commercial advertising, featuring in numerous national commercials, and has collaborated with emerging creatives on various film projects, further solidifying her reputation as a talented and versatile performer.
