Nakai Takawira, a talented and ambitious 14-year-old actor, was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. With a natural flair for acting and an unwavering enthusiasm for her craft, Nakai has already amassed an impressive body of work at a remarkably young age.
Nakai's journey in the entertainment industry began when she was just a few days shy of her 7th birthday, and since then, she has been involved in a wide range of projects, including television, voiceover, and commercials. Her dedication to delivering outstanding performances has earned her a reputation for being a reliable and talented young actress.
Some of Nakai's most notable roles include her guest appearance on the popular Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events, where she played the role of 'Friday', and her lead role in the Vanessa Parise-directed Lifetime movie, Simone Biles Story: Courage to Soar, as 'Young Simone Biles'. She has also appeared on shows such as DC's Legends of Tomorrow and Gumboot Kids television series.
In addition to her on-screen work, Nakai has also lent her voice to various projects, including The Breakfast Club of Canada, a recurring role as 'Betsy Roar' in the Chip and Potato TV series, and Fisher Price. Her commercial appearances have included Aleve, Proctor & Gamble's 2018 'Thank you Mom Campaign', Bose Headphones, and Reddi Wip ads.
Fluent in English, French, and German, Nakai is a science enthusiast and an all-around athlete who is also an engaging, quick-witted, and versatile individual. Her passion for the art of acting has led her to receive training from industry experts, including Sarah-Jane Redmond and Robyn Ross, as well as voice-over training from Halfyard Productions and creative drama training from Arts Umbrella.
Nakai's motivation for pursuing her acting career stems from her desire to help others, particularly children her age. She volunteers annually at the SFU Phi Delta Epsilon Fraternity's 'Anatomy Fashion Show' and Vancouver Kids Fashion Week, which are fundraisers for BC Children's hospital.
