Niharika Singh is a multifaceted Indian actress and filmmaker, whose journey in the entertainment industry began at a tender age.
As a child, Niharika took to the stage, playing the iconic role of 'Bharat Mata' in a school play, and subsequently participated in children's theatre workshops conducted by 'Sahitya Kala Parishad', the cultural wing of the Govt. of NCT of Delhi. She continued to hone her skills, performing in plays during her summer vacations. Her interest in co-curricular activities was encouraged when she was sent to a boarding school as a teenager.
Singh's entry into the world of modeling was a natural progression, as she began working as a model to earn a little income while in college. After a stint in Delhi, she moved to Mumbai to expand her career in the entertainment business.
In 2005, Niharika participated in the Miss India beauty pageant and won the title of Femina Miss India Earth, along with subtitles for Miss Photogenic and Miss Beautiful hair. She went on to appear in several television commercials, print ads, music videos, fashion magazines, and even hosted a reality series. Her career received a significant boost when she signed a ten-film contract with Bollywood director Raj Kanwar in 2006, although the films remained unreleased.
After a series of shelved projects, Niharika made her feature film debut with the critically acclaimed 'Miss Lovely', which competed in Un Certain Regard at the 2012 Cannes film Festival. Her performance earned her a nomination for the Most promising newcomer at the 21st Screen Awards.
Following her stint at Cannes and other international festivals, Niharika joined a course at the Film and Television Institute of India to further her interest in the medium. She subsequently stepped away from public life, making brief appearances in a few independent films over the next decade and choosing not to participate in any promotional activities.
In 2016, Niharika was selected for Berlinale Talents, a prestigious platform that recognizes emerging talent in the film industry. She then joined Future East, a Mumbai-based film production company in 2019 and co-founded Future East Digital with filmmaker Ashim Ahluwalia and creative director Amit Basak in 2020.
In 2023, Niharika turned producer with the TV series - CLA$$ (Season 1) for Netflix, marking a significant milestone in her career as a producer.
