Norman Buckley is a highly accomplished director whose extensive body of work encompasses a diverse range of networks, genres, and styles. As a respected member of both the Directors Guild of America (DGA) and the American Cinema Editors (ACE),he has consistently demonstrated his expertise in the film and television industry.
Born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, Norman initially pursued a major in history at the University of Texas at Arlington, where he developed a strong foundation in research and critical thinking. He later transferred to the University of Southern California, where he earned a degree in film and television production, further honing his skills in storytelling and visual aesthetics.
In addition to his impressive professional credentials, Norman is also an adjunct professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA),where he teaches both directing and editing classes to graduate and undergraduate students. His ability to effectively convey his knowledge and experience to the next generation of filmmakers is a testament to his dedication to the craft.
Tragically, Norman's personal life was marked by the loss of his husband, the late artist Davyd Whaley, who passed away in 2014. In honor of his beloved partner, Norman established The Davyd Whaley Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting emerging artists and providing them with the resources and opportunities necessary to thrive in their respective fields.
