Nuno embarked on an academic journey in 1999, commencing his studies at the esteemed Lisbon National Theatre Conservatoire, where he eventually earned his degree after successfully completing his course of study. In addition to his time at the Lisbon National Theatre Conservatoire, Nuno also attended the School of Music and Performing Arts of Oporto, where he further honed his skills and expanded his knowledge in the field of performing arts. Moreover, he spent time at Estudis the Teatre in Barcelona, a renowned institution for the study and practice of theatre, allowing him to immerse himself in the Spanish theatre scene and gain valuable experience. Furthermore, Nuno's academic pursuits took him to the Royal School of Dramatic Art in Madrid, where he completed his degree in Physical Theatre in 2003, rounding out his comprehensive education in the realm of theatre and performance.
In the year 2002, a prestigious fellowship was bestowed upon him, granting him the esteemed opportunity to delve into the realm of Butoh Dance and Noh Theater, with a specific focus on the cultural and artistic heritage of Kyoto, Japan.
As a result of this enriching experience, he had the privilege of integrating himself with the Shizuku Butoh Dance Company, a renowned organization based in Tokyo, under the visionary direction of the accomplished Japanese dancer and choreographer, Dakei.
Furthermore, he had the privilege of attending the esteemed Butoh dance studios of the legendary Kazuo Ohno and the highly respected Akiko Fujimoto, allowing him to hone his skills and deepen his understanding of this unique and captivating art form.
Nuno's artistic journey took a significant turn in 2004 when he was awarded the prestigious Young Artists Award in Theatre by the National Culture Centre of Portugal. This esteemed recognition enabled him to delve deeper into the Suzuki method acting training at the renowned SCOT, under the meticulous guidance of its visionary creator, Tadashi Suzuki.
Fast-forward to 2008, Nuno's dedication to his craft was once again acknowledged with the esteemed Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Scholarship. This coveted award allowed him to further his studies by immersing himself in the innovative approaches of Anne Bogart's Siti Company and the Suzuki Method, a testament to his unwavering commitment to artistic excellence.
Noteworthy productions directed by Nuno include Parece una Tonteria, a theatrical endeavour presented at Teatro Valle Inclan in Madrid, Spain, in the year 2003. This was followed by After the Rehearsal, a production staged at The Tank in New York, United States, in 2009. The director's repertoire also features Tragédia Brasileira, a poignant Brazilian Tragedy, which premiered at Teatro Nelson Rodrigues in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2010. Furthermore, Matei Por Amor, a gripping drama titled I have Killed for Love, was showcased at Teatro Municipal São Luís in Lisboa, Portugal, in 2016.
