Born on the picturesque shores of Lake Superior, Odin embarked on a remarkable journey at the tender age of twenty, traveling to Moscow to hone his craft at the prestigious Moscow Art Theater School-Studio (MXAT) for a period of three months, which ultimately transformed into a fifteen-year sojourn in the Russian capital.
Upon graduating from MXAT with honors in 2009, Odin became one of only two Americans and a select few foreigners to have ever completed the traditional (Russian-language) acting program. This accomplishment was followed by a five-year tenure as the beloved intern Phil Richards on Russia's most popular sitcom "Interns".
In 2013, Odin received an unexpected invitation from the renowned director Kirill Serebrennikov, known for his works such as "The Student", "Leto", and "Petrov's Flu", to assume the lead role of Pavel Ivanovich Chichikov in his staging of Nikolai Gogol's "Dead Souls". This marked the beginning of an eight-year tenure as a troupe actor at Russia's acclaimed contemporary theater, Gogol Center, where Odin was involved in over fifteen premieres, garnered two Golden Mask nominations for best actor, and participated in numerous international festivals, including three residencies at Festival d'Avignon, with productions such as "Dead Souls" in 2016, "Outside" in 2019, and "The Black Monk" in 2022.
In July 2022, Serebrennikov's "The Black Monk" (Thalia Theater, Hamburg) opened the 2022 Festival d'Avignon at the Palais de Papes, with Odin walking the red carpet at the 75th Festival de Cannes on May 18th, 2022, to present Serebrennikov's film "Tchaikovsky's Wife", in which Odin portrayed Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
In March 2022, Odin made the difficult decision to leave Moscow permanently due to Russia's aggression in Ukraine, and since then, he has been based in Berlin. Currently, Odin holds the position of guest actor at Hamburg's Thalia Theater.
