Biography

Oriol Paulo's educational background is comprised of a degree in audiovisual communication from Pompeu Fabra University, as well as a degree in film from the esteemed Los Angeles Film School.

As a prolific scriptwriter, Paulo has crafted screenplays for various small screen films, including Ecos in 2006 and Codi 60 in 2011. However, it is his work in television series that has garnered him widespread recognition, with notable credits including Absolute majority in 2004 and The color of the cuitat, which he worked on from 2004 to 2009.

In the realm of cinema, Paulo made a significant impact as a co-screenwriter alongside Guillem Morales on the thriller Julia's Eyes in 2010, a production overseen by the renowned Guillermo del Toro. Prior to this, he had already established himself as a talented filmmaker through his work on several short films, including McGuffin in 1998, which he both wrote and directed, as well as Tapes in 2002 and Eve in 2002, both of which he scripted and directed.

In 2012, Paulo wrote and directed his first feature-length film, The Body, which earned him a nomination for Best New Director at the Goya Awards and a win for Best Film at the Fantastic Film Festival in Paris.

Paulo's subsequent projects have included writing the script for Boy Missing, directed by Mar Tarragona in 2016, as well as writing and directing The Invisible Guest in 2017, which starred Mario Casas, Barbara Lennie, and José Coronado.

Since 2016, Paulo has worked as the writer and director of the television series Night and Day.
