Biography

Oriol Paulo, a veritable Renaissance man, emerged onto the scene in the year 1975, amidst the bustling metropolis of Barcelona, a city renowned for its rich cultural heritage and situated within the autonomous community of Catalonia, a region steeped in history and tradition, nestled in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, that is, Spain.

Oriol's artistic odyssey commenced with a rigorous academic foundation in Audiovisual Communications at the esteemed Pompeu Fabra University, providing a strong basis for his future endeavors. This solid groundwork served as the catalyst for his subsequent pursuit of excellence, as he ventured to the renowned Los Angeles Film School to hone his craft and absorb the knowledge of industry experts.

Oriol's professional journey began with a stint in editing, a role that ultimately served as a stepping stone for his true calling in the world of storytelling. As he delved deeper into the craft, he found himself increasingly drawn to the art of writing and directing, driven by a passion to craft captivating narratives that would resonate with audiences and bring them to life in a vivid and immersive way on the big screen.

Oriol's inaugural directorial endeavour, THE BODY (El Cuerpo),a captivating noir detective thriller, paid a profound tribute to the masters of suspense, the incomparable Alfred Hitchcock and the illustrious Agatha Christie. This highly anticipated film made its world premiere at the prestigious Sitges Festival in October 2012, concurrently being selected for the esteemed BFI London Film Festival 2012. Under the auspices of the renowned production company Rodar y Rodar, the same entity responsible for the critically acclaimed The Orphanage, THE BODY represented Oriol's second writing feature credit, following the resounding success of the Spanish psychological thriller JULIA'S EYES.
