Paris Barclay is a renowned television director and producer, with a career spanning over three decades. He has directed nearly 200 episodes of television, including series such as Station 19, Pitch, Sons of Anarchy, In Treatment, Cold Case, City of Angels, and NYPD Blue.
Barclay has also directed episodes of various other series, including Scandal, The Good Wife, Empire, House, NCIS: Los Angeles, CSI, Lost, The Shield, The West Wing, and ER. He has also directed three films: Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, The Cherokee Kid, and The Big Time.
Throughout his career, Barclay has received numerous awards and nominations, including two Emmy Awards and the DGA award for Outstanding Direction of a Drama Series for NYPD Blue. He has also received nine additional Emmy nominations for producing and directing, and ten other DGA Award nominations for shows such as Glee, In Treatment, The West Wing, House, and Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.
Barclay is a member of the Directors Guild of America and has served as its President, becoming the first African-American and openly gay President in the Guild's history. He has also served on the National Board, the Western Directors Council, and has chaired and participated in various committees.
In addition to his work in television, Barclay has also worked in music, directing music videos for artists such as Bob Dylan, the New Kids on the Block, Janet Jackson & Luther Vandross, Harry Connick, Jr., and LL Cool J. He has also written and composed musical dramas, including One Red Flower, which was adapted from soldiers' letters written during the Vietnam War.
In recent years, Barclay has worked on several projects, including the Netflix series MONSTER: THE JEFFREY DAHMER STORY, THE WATCHER, and AMERICAN HORROR STORY. He has also helmed two episodes of the FX/HULU series AMERICAN SPORTS STORY: AARON HERNANDEZ, and two episodes of MONSTERS: THE ERIK AND LYLE MENENDEZ STORY. Additionally, he has directed the pilot and executive produced the ABC Series, DOCTOR ODYSSEY, starring Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson.
