Person Biography:
Parveen Babi was born and raised in Junagad, where she was discovered by renowned director B.R. Ishara at Ahmedabad University. Ishara approached her to star in his upcoming movie, Charitraheen, a sequel to Chetna, alongside Indian cricketer Salim Durrani. This marked the beginning of her illustrious career in Bollywood, which spanned from the 1970s.
Her most notable films include Deewar, Namak Halal, Amar Akbar Anthony, and Kala Pathar, all of which featured megastar Amitabh Bachchan. In 1976, Time Magazine showcased her photograph on their cover page, highlighting the changing face of Bollywood and its actresses.
After her last movie, Akarshan, Parveen Babi disappeared from public view and became a recluse. She took up interior designing and maintained a close circle of friends. She later moved to the United States, where she remained out of sight for about 10 years.
In a shocking turn of events, Parveen Babi filed a writ petition in the Bombay High Court, accusing several dignitaries, including Amitabh Bachchan, of attempting to kill her. However, the court dismissed the petition due to lack of evidence.
On January 22, 2005, neighbors at her Juhu residence noticed that she had not collected her milk or newspapers for three days. The police were notified, and upon entering her apartment with a duplicate key, they found her dead body. The investigation revealed that the door had been locked from the inside for three days, with no signs of foul play.
Parveen Babi was an only child born into a noble family from Junagad. Her father passed away when she was young, and her mother passed away several years later.
