Patrice Johnson Chevannes is a multifaceted individual, boasting a plethora of accomplishments as an actress, writer, director, and producer. Born in Jamaica and raised in New York City alongside her eight siblings, she embarked on an undergraduate journey at Cornell University, initially exploring aerospace engineering before discovering her true passion for acting.
Patrice subsequently transferred to The City College of New York, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts. Her extensive stage presence has been showcased in numerous plays on and off the Broadway stage, sharing the spotlight with esteemed actors such as Liam Neeson and Laura Linney in a production of Arthur Miller's The Crucible.
Notably, Patrice has had the privilege of working with renowned directors Sir Richard Eyre, Jude Kelly, Sir Michael Boyd, Sir Trevor Nunn, and Peter Sellars. Her dedication to amplifying Caribbean voices and representation in the entertainment industry led her to co-found the production company God and all o wee Productions with her siblings in 2002.
This venture, coupled with the music company Ubigwitus Inc., which translates to "You big with us" in Jamaican Patois, enabled the creation of their debut feature film that summer. Patrice has since written, directed, and produced three award-winning feature films through God and all o wee Productions in collaboration with Ubigwitus Inc.
Their initial feature, Kings County, premiered at the 2003 Urban World Film Festival, followed by NY's Dirty Laundry, which received an invitation to the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Hill and Gully, their third film, has garnered numerous accolades, including Best Feature Film at the Caribbean Lens Film Festival in Los Angeles.
Patrice's cinematic endeavors are deeply rooted in her Caribbean-American upbringing, with each film set in New York and exploring the complexities of her cultural heritage. She is currently represented by Abrams Artists, NY.
