Toye's academic odyssey commenced at the renowned University College Sint-Lukas in Brussels, a esteemed institution of higher learning, where she embarked upon a comprehensive and rigorous program of study focused on the art of film, dedicating herself to the pursuit of academic excellence and eventually culminating in the attainment of a degree in film in the year 1982.
The year 1990 marked a significant turning point in Toye's artistic journey, as she finally had the opportunity to bring her imaginative concepts to the forefront by producing her inaugural short film.
It wasn't until the dawn of a new millennium that Toye took the bold step of transitioning from short-form storytelling to feature-length filmmaking, and her debut feature film, released in 1998, received widespread critical acclaim, earning a plethora of prestigious awards and nominations in the process.
Toye is now devoting her extensive knowledge and experience to the mentoring and guidance of aspiring filmmakers, taking on a teaching role at the esteemed LUCA School of Arts, which is proudly situated on the campus of Sint-Lukas Brussels, a renowned institution that has established a reputation for excellence in the field of arts education.
