Paul was born in Carshalton, Surrey, in 1981, and his fascination with the horror genre began at an astonishingly young age. As a mere three-year-old, he was captivated by the 1981 classic, An American Werewolf In London, which sparked a lifelong passion for the genre. Growing up, Paul immersed himself in an eclectic array of horror films, including the iconic Universal monsters, the Hammer horror series, and the 1980s slasher films, with Freddy Krueger being a particular favorite during his formative years.
Paul's academic pursuits were equally as fascinating, as he combined his studies in Media and English with Psychology and Politics at college between 1997 and 2000. He then went on to spend three years at the University of East London, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Film History.
As a published film journalist, Paul has specialized in writing retrospectives on classic horror movies that he grew up loving. In the late 1990s, he began his writing career, and in early 2006, he joined the writing team at HorrorHound magazine, where he has been a regular contributor to every issue.
In 2007, Paul embarked on a new project, a feature-length documentary about the first horror movie he ever saw, An American Werewolf In London. Currently in production, the documentary will delve into the making of the film and feature interviews with the entire cast and crew, 25 years after its initial release. The documentary is expected to be completed in early 2008.
Paul's dedication to his craft is evident in his extensive knowledge of the horror genre and his ability to craft engaging and informative articles about classic horror films. As a published film journalist and documentary filmmaker, Paul is well on his way to becoming a respected authority on the subject of horror cinema.
