Pedro Kos is a talented film director, editor, and producer who has made a significant impact in the industry with his diverse range of projects. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Kos's passion for storytelling and filmmaking led him to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Theater Directing from Yale University.
Kos's professional journey began with editing several notable documentaries, including Jehane Noujaim's Academy Award-nominated film "The Square," which earned him an Emmy Award for Best Editing for a Non-Fiction program. He also edited Lucy Walker's Academy Award-nominated film "Waste Land" and Jon Shenk's documentary "The Island President," which won the People's Choice Award at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival.
In 2017, Kos co-directed his feature directorial debut "Bending the Arc" with Kief Davidson, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He went on to write and produce Jehane Noujaim and Karim Amer's Netflix Original Documentary "The Great Hack," which premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for a BAFTA award.
Kos's most recent projects include co-directing the Netflix Original Documentary Short "Lead Me Home" (2021) with Jon Shenk, which was nominated for an Academy Award. He also directed, wrote, and edited the documentary feature film "Rebel Hearts," which premiered in the U.S. Documentary Competition at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and was released worldwide by Discovery+. The film follows the lives of five Catholic nuns who defied tradition and became activists in the 1960s and 1970s.
Kos's latest project, "In Our Blood," is his fiction film debut, which premiered at the 2024 Fantasia International Film Festival and will be released in theaters this summer by Utopia Distribution. He also co-directed "The White House Effect" with Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk, which premiered at the 2024 Telluride Film Festival.
