Biography

Here is the biography of Peg Entwistle:

Peg Entwistle was born on February 5, 1908, in Port Talbot, Wales, to Emily Stevenson Entwistle and Robert Symes Entwistle, an actor and stage manager. Her parents divorced in 1910, and her father was granted full custody of her. However, her mother did not die as her father told her, but instead, she began an affair with an actor named Julius Shaw.

Peg's early life was marked by her father's struggles as an actor and her own aspirations to follow in his footsteps. She spent her childhood moving between London and New York, where her uncle Charles Entwistle worked as a manager and business agent for the famous stage producer Charles Frohman.

Peg's father married twice more, and she had two younger half-brothers, Milton and Robert. After her father's death in 1922, Peg was adopted by her uncle and aunt, Charles and Jane Entwistle.

Peg began her acting career on the stage, studying at the Henry Jewett's Repertory School in Boston and later becoming a member of the Henry Jewett Players. She made her Broadway debut in 1925 and went on to play supporting roles with famous actors and actresses, including Dorothy Gish, Laurette Taylor, and Henry Travers.

In 1927, Peg married actor Robert Keith, but the marriage was marked by infidelity and deceit. She divorced him in 1929 and went on to marry again, but her second marriage was also short-lived.

Peg's most notable role was in the 1927 play "Tommy," which ran for 232 performances. She also appeared in the 1932 film "Thirteen Women," but it was a commercial failure.

Tragedy struck Peg's life in 1932, when she found herself broke and with no prospects. On September 16, 1932, she left a note for her uncle and aunt saying she was going out to buy books, but instead, she climbed up the Hollywoodland sign and jumped to her death.

Peg Entwistle's life was marked by tragedy, heartbreak, and unfulfilled potential. Despite her struggles, she remained dedicated to her craft and left a lasting legacy in the world of theater.
