Biography

Harold Lloyd's co-star in the 1938 film "Professor Beware" had a remarkable background in the performing arts, having undergone eight years of rigorous training in dance and acting in Michigan and Ohio. During this period, she even taught dancing at the University of Toledo, and briefly ventured into stock theater before making her way to New York City. Despite initially experiencing disappointment with two failed Broadway productions, she received her first critical acclaim for "End of Summer" in 1936, originally taking on the role of understudy to the talented Doris Dudley. The success of her performance caught the attention of renowned director Guthrie McClintic, who subsequently cast her in the 1937 production of "High Tor," alongside esteemed actors Burgess Meredith and Peggy Ashcroft.
