Prachi Desai is a renowned Indian television actress, best recognized for her iconic role as Bani Walia in the popular Hindi television drama "Kasamh Se" (2006) on Zee TV. Apart from her acting career, she is also an endorser, spokesperson, brand ambassador, and face of Neutrogena products in India.
Born in Surat, Gujarat, Prachi received her primary education at St Joseph Convent, Panchgani, before completing her schooling till the ninth grade in Surat. She then pursued higher studies in Pune, where she attended Sinhagad College, Kondhwa.
Prachi's career began with a short modeling workshop, during which her pictures were sent to Balaji Telefilms, leading to her audition and eventual selection for the role of Bani Walia in "Kasamh Se". At the age of 17, she left her studies to start her acting career with the show.
Prachi's stint in "Kasamh Se" earned her widespread recognition, and she went on to play the lead role until her character's demise in episode 562 on 15 April 2008. She made a special appearance in the show's finale on 12 March 2009. Additionally, she made a cameo appearance in "Kasautii Zindagii Kay" on Star Plus, playing a school student in Prerna's school.
In 2007, Prachi participated in the Indian version of "Dancing With The Stars", "Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa", alongside choreographer Deepak Singh. Although she was initially eliminated on 10 November 2007, she re-entered the competition via a wild-card entry on 23 November 2007. Prachi eventually won the first place in the grand finale on 15 December 2007, earning the title of "Dancing Star of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 2". There were allegations that her re-entry was facilitated due to the intervention of her close friend, Ekta Kapoor, although the channel denied these claims.
Prachi also participated in a tribute show to Jhalak competition, "Dard-e-Disco", alongside other former contestants, which aired on Sony Entertainment Television Asia on 31 December 2007.
