Mehra's directorial debut, "Dil Dili Deewana" (1966),was followed by the critically acclaimed "Mere Apne" (1971),which earned him the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. He went on to direct several successful films, including "Zanjeer" (1973),"Hijack" (1978),and "Muqaddar Ka Sikandar" (1988),cementing his reputation as a master storyteller and a visionary filmmaker. Throughout his illustrious career, Mehra received numerous accolades, including the Filmfare Award for Best Director and the Indian Government's Padma Shri award.
