Rahhat Shah Kazmi, a renowned film director and writer, has garnered widespread acclaim for his feature films, including LIHAAF, co-produced by Oscar winner Marc Baschet.
His notable works include MANTOSTAAN, a cinematic adaptation of four stories by the celebrated Urdu writer Saadat Hassan Manto, which premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in 2016. Additionally, he is set to direct the upcoming Indo-American film COUNTRY OF BLIND, based on a short story by H. G. Wells with the same title.
Throughout his career, Rahhat has garnered an impressive tally of over fifty international awards, including the best director award at the BAFTA by UK Asian Film Festival in 2017 for MANTOSTAAN. Furthermore, he was nominated for best director in the Bollywood ITA AWARDS (2022) alongside prominent filmmakers from the Bollywood industry for his film LIHAAF.
In 2016, his film IDENTITY CARD was screened at the European Parliament, serving as a reference to the situation in Kashmir at that time. Notably, Golden Globe-winning filmmaker Siddiq Barmak drew inspiration from his film during a masterclass on filmmaking.
Following successful theatrical releases, many of Rahhat's works are now available to stream on prominent OTT platforms, including NETFLIX, DESNEY+HOTSTAR, AMAZON PRIME, VOOTSELECT, and ZEE5, among others.
