Ricardo López, also famously known as the "Björk stalker", was a Uruguayan-American individual who held a peculiar profession as a pest control worker. Born on January 14, 1975, his life took a drastic turn in September 1996 when he made a fateful attempt to harm Icelandic musician Björk.
López's fixation on Björk began in 1993, and his obsession only intensified as he became increasingly displeased with her romantic relationship with musician Goldie. Over the course of nearly nine months, López created a video diary, documenting his innermost thoughts and musings about Björk, as well as other topics, within the confines of his Hollywood, Florida apartment.
Tragically, López's fixation culminated in a disturbing act of violence. On September 12, 1996, he dispatched a letter bomb rigged with sulfuric acid to Björk's residence in London. After mailing the package, he returned to his apartment, where he proceeded to film his own suicide.
Unfortunately, López's life came to a premature end, and his body, along with his diaries, was discovered by authorities four days later. In a fortunate turn of events, the British police were alerted to the situation and managed to intercept the package, preventing any harm from coming to Björk. Miraculously, she remained unharmed throughout the ordeal.
