He is the proud sibling of a sister named Sue. Interestingly, Richard was initially known as Richard Karn Wilson, but he later shortened his name to Richard Karn due to the existence of another Richard Wilson registered with the prestigious Screen Actors Guild.
Richard's passion for acting began in the fifth grade, and he continued to nurture his talent throughout his high school years, where he was extremely active in the drama department. His love for drama led him to spend six months in England, where he further honed his skills. He then attended the University of Washington, graduating in 1979 with a degree in drama.
