Robert Kazinsky was born Robert John Appleby in Haywards Heath, Sussex, England, to Phyllis and Paul Appleby, and grew up in the seaside town of Brighton, situated on England's southern coast, where the warm waters of the English Channel gently lap against the shore. Both of his parents hail from Polish Jewish/Russian Jewish families, their ancestral roots digging deep into the rich cultural heritage of Eastern Europe.
Kazinsky pursued his passion for theatre at the Guildford School of Acting from 2002 to 2005, graduating with full honors and receiving widespread acclaim for his exceptional talent. Shortly after his graduation, he was cast as the enigmatic footballer Casper Rose in Sky One's footballing drama Dream Team, starring in only one season but making a lasting impression on audiences, who voted him the most popular character of that season with a resounding 54.29% of the vote.
After announcing his intention to leave the show in 2006, Kazinsky was cast as the disturbed and dangerous ex-military ladies man Sean Slater in the popular British soap opera EastEnders. During his tenure, which spanned an impressive 254 episodes, Kazinsky received numerous award nominations, ultimately winning seven prestigious awards, including two Best Actor Awards, culminating in his triumphant victory at the British Soap Awards in 2008.
In 2010, Kazinsky made guest appearances on the hit TV shows Law and Order: Los Angeles and Brothers & Sisters, before being announced as the talented actor set to play the role of Fili in Peter Jackson's highly anticipated film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, with filming scheduled to commence in 2011.
