Biography

Roberta Durrant is a highly accomplished and renowned creative director, producer, and showrunner in the television and film industry. With a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Drama and English from the University of Stellenbosch, she began her career in theatre and film, acting and directing in South Africa and later in London, where she worked with notable figures such as Stephen Berkoff at the Young Vic Theatre and the Edinburgh Festival.

Throughout her career, Roberta has been a driving force in the industry, serving as a member of the National Executive Committee of the Independent Producer's Organization and as a past President of Women in Film. She has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Cape Town and AFDA, and has received numerous awards and accolades for her contributions to the industry.

Roberta has created and worked on several long-running, award-winning drama series and sitcoms for South African broadcasters, including Ring of Lies, Home Affairs, Montana, Izingane Zobaba, Sokhulu and Partners, Shreds and Dreams, Saints and Sinners, Z'bondiwe, Isikizi, Forced Love, and sitcoms such as Sgudi Snaysi, Going Up, About Us, Madam & Eve, SOS, Fishy Feshuns, Going Up Again, Mazinyo dot Q, and Stokvel.

Her television drama series have received international recognition, including being a finalist for the Drama International Emmy Awards and a semi-finalist for the Banff Canada awards. She has also won numerous local awards, including SAFTA awards for Best Ensemble TV Comedy, Best Editing for Drama, and Best Made for TV Movie.

Roberta's filmography includes a range of projects, including Love, Lies and Hybrids, Home Affairs part 1 & 2, Herb & Moon, Pinky Pinky, Krotoa, Felix, Inside Out, and Skilpoppe. Her film Krotoa won 9 international awards, including Best Film at the Harlem International Film Festival and The Montreal International Black Film festival. Her film Felix won 17 international awards, including the TIFF Kids Festival Young People's Jury Award for Best Feature Film.
