Robinhood Ferdinand Padilla, professionally known as Robin Padilla, is a multifaceted Filipino artist, recognized for his work in the film industry as an actor, screenwriter, producer, and director. He is particularly famous for his action films from the 1990s, where he often portrayed antihero characters, earning him the nickname "Bad Boy" of Philippine cinemas and the moniker "The Action Prince" or "The Prince of the Philippine Action Movies".
Padilla was born in Daet, Camarines Norte, Philippines, to Casimero Roy Padilla Sr., a filmmaker, and Lolita Eva Cariño. He is the brother of Bb Gandanghari and Rommel Padilla, and the uncle of Bela Padilla, Daniel Padilla, and Mark Anthony Fernandez. Furthermore, he is the father of Queenie Padilla and Kylie Padilla, and the husband of Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla.
Padilla's acting career began in the 1980s, primarily working on films produced by RCP Productions. However, it was during the 1990s that he gained prominence in the show business, starring in films alongside Sharon Cuneta (Maging sino ka man, 1991) and Vina Morales (Ang utol kong hoodlum, 1991).
In the 2000s, Padilla transitioned to television, acting in TV series for ABS-CBN and GMA, before returning to ABS-CBN in the 2010s. During this period, he also began to explore comedy films, while still embracing his "bad boy" image.
Despite being a household name, many would have expected Padilla to only act in action films. However, he has proven his versatility by appearing in comedy, thriller, horror, and drama films and TV series. He has won two best actor awards, one at the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival and another at the 2014 GMMSF Box-Office Entertainment Awards, for his lead role in 10000 Hours (2013),a film about a Philippine senator forced to go on the run.
Additionally, Padilla has had a recurring role as a judge on Pilipinas Got Talent (2010),a Philippine adaptation of Britain's Got Talent (2007),where judges, like him, search for the most unique and talented act in the Philippines.
