Roy's family legacy in the film industry spans an impressive seven decades, with a rich heritage that has been passed down through generations. As a young individual, he was drawn to the world of cinema and began to follow in his father's footsteps, experimenting with camera performances and honing his skills in front of the lens.
Roy's formal training took place at Rank Film Laboratories in Denham, where he developed a strong foundation in the art of filmmaking. Following his training, he transitioned into the world of television post-production, where he worked tirelessly in London and Toronto, primarily with CBC LE programs, during the 1970s and 1980s.
Throughout his illustrious career, Roy has been instrumental in setting up and running many of Soho's leading post-production houses, leaving an indelible mark on the industry. In his personal life, Roy has been married to esteemed TV producer Nickie Stevens since 1987, and the couple has been blessed with three children, all of whom have gone on to achieve great success in their respective careers.
James, their eldest child, has made a name for himself in TV and movie SFX post-production, while Clementine has excelled in ad agency TV production. Jonny, the youngest of the trio, has established himself as a talented Music Producer. Despite his numerous accomplishments, Roy has never lost his passion for the film production process and has returned to front-of-camera roles to feed his creative energies.
