Russell Brown is a filmmaker who has directed and written several films, including Loren & Rose, which premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and won over 20 prizes at more than 50 festivals. The film stars Jacqueline Bisset and Kelly Blatz, and has been praised for its beautiful acting, intelligent scripting, and sensitive direction.
Brown's other films include Search Engines, which premiered at Cinequest and has played over 90 festivals, picking up over 25 awards; Annie and the Gypsy, which premiered at the Seattle Film Festival and was distributed by Osiris Entertainment; and The Blue Tooth Virgin, which won the Special Jury Prize at the Seattle International Film Festival.
Brown has also directed several short films, including Conversation with a Cigarette, which premiered at the Palm Springs Shortsfest and won writing and audience prizes; and Mama Laura's Boys, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and was broadcast on PBS.
In addition to his work in film, Brown is a member of the Writer's Guild of America and is a Film Independent Producing Fellow. He is also the founder and board chair of Friends of Residential Treasures: Los Angeles (FORT: LA),a nonprofit dedicated to promoting stronger civic identity and community cohesion among the residents of Los Angeles County.
Brown has been recognized for his philanthropic efforts, including his work with hospital patients as a certified animal therapist with Love On 4 Paws and his award from the City of Los Angeles for his work with the Boys and Girls Club of Venice.
